CineSkates

Here at Moovi we are constantly on the lookout for innovative products coming to market that might help you and your DSLR filmmaking process.

For October, we couldn’t be more eager to get our hands on the brand new “CineSkates” – a set of three mini wheels that quickly attach to a mini tripod to enable fluid rolling video in an ultra-portable package. As it becomes easier and easier to achieve amazing high definition resolution for video projects, it puts more pressure on image stabilization, as we all know that fluid, focused movements are key.

For years, aspiring filmmakers have been clamoring for a cost-effective and small footprint solution to produce fluid rolling shots that mimic the gorgeous tracking shots of big budget films. With CineSkates – it is finally possible to shoot amazing arcing shots that rotate around objects and engaging sliding shots that push or pull the subject into focus.

How is all this possible? With the help of crowd-sourced funding and support through the popular invention website “KickStarter” – the CineSkates product idea erupted onto the scene and they quickly surpassed their goal to raise $20,000 in start-up funds. In a few short weeks, CineSkates has amassed over $306,000 of funding as filmmakers line up around the world to put their orders in.

CineSkates, in essence, are a set of interchangeable, modular, tiny wheels that work specifically with the GorillaPod Focus tripod and ballhead.

The early adopter filmmaking set should be receiving their initial orders in October and the consensus is that the complete CineSkates kit at $275 will quickly become a must-have accessory. Beyond the possibilities to shoot arcing, rotating, rolling and sliding shots with professional results, the opportunity to shoot smooth, time-lapse scenes with subtle movements should prove to be a blast as well.

Independent filmmakers should find CineSkates perfect for weddings, music videos, product demos, real estate ads, web videos, corporate films, narratives and cutting-edge documentary films. CineSkates will be releasing several “How To” videos in the coming days to help with the initial learning curve.
